Wrath of the Glitch King

So kicking off my slog through my backlog is off to a rough start.

The first game on the docket was Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 on the Xbox 360. I remember having a good time with it, because hey, I loved Lego Star Wars and I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. Unfortunately I started playing it not long after I had just finished Lego Star Wars so I was kinda Lego’d out. Going back in and doing the last couple of story mode levels and then doing all the postgame stuff was a lot of fun.

Unfortunately, it has to go back on the pile.

While I try to not be an achievement whore as much as I used to be, part of the appeal of the Lego games to me is finding all the collectables and getting the game to 100%. The first game that I ever got 1000/1000 on that wasn’t super easy was Lego Star Wars so I was ready to do it again with Potter and company.

I Am Disappoint

A few months ago I saw on Kotaku and a few other places that Japanese company Kotobukiya would be releasing a figure based on Elanor, a RAcaseal from Phantasy Star Online. I’d never seen any merchandise from the game before, and you all know how I loves me some PSO. I preordered it as soon as I could, and I waited like a patient, respectable person until it arrived a couple of days ago.

The box looked so great. I never played a RAcaseal character, but the figure looked so awesome in pictures. I couldn’t wait to set her up on my entertainment center, spread gun at the ready, on the constant lookout for Boomas and Rappys.

Then I opened the box.

It’s Crunch Time (Unfortunately)

We’re almost done remodeling here at the PK Tower, but that means that the home stretch is also the most intensive. After spending the weekend doing even MORE work, we’re getting the carpet installed, which means we’ve been busy shoving our entire lives into two rooms. There’s still some painting to be done, and all kinds of other things that makes us wish we were dead. Christina is organizing things behind me and keeps hurting herself so I’m going to wrap this up. There won’t be any new posts this week, and I’m really terribly sorry about that. This is going to be the ONLY time I take time off, and honestly I wish I didn’t have to. Regardless, we WILL have PK Podcast! episode 4 up on Friday, come Hell or high water. Or carpet install man. Whatever.

If you need something to do, you can always start a conversation on the PK Bloggin’! Facebook page, or send me or Christina an email. Or, you know, go outside. That’s always an option.

It’s Hard to Write About Video Games When You Can’t Play Video Games

This is what our living room looks like at the moment. It’s really dirty! The walls used to have wallpaper, now they’re bare and coated with ugly plaster. This is not an ideal spot to play video games, especially since there’s no furniture in there!

I’m writing this post from our computer desk, which is currently in the kitchen next to the dinner table. I’m also next to a bookcase blocking our back door, a CD rack full of PlayStation 1 and Dreamcast games, another rack of PC games, and an end table with random junk on it. Christina is behind me at the sink cleaning up after dinner.
