PK Podcast! Episode 15 – 08/07/10

Yo! It’s a podcast! How about that? It’s been about two months since our last podcast, but it’s been a combination of being very busy and not having a good topic. We’re going to start trying to do them again regularly, so look forward to that. Today we talk about how it is growing older as a geek and how we fit in with today’s world.

We hope you enjoy it!

Eating for Two (and Eventually Three)

I’ve been making a lot of changes in my lifestyle lately, some gradual, some not so much. While this post is going to be a bit more personal than they usually are, I’m doing my best to keep it from seeming preachy, because that’s really not my intent. I told you the blog was going to be a bit more open, so if you don’t really care you can go play your DS or something.

Anyway, I’ve been making a lot of changes to the way I eat. I mean, you guys have seen pictures of me, I’m not like OMG FAT but I’m not in the best shape. It’s the result of years of a sedimentary lifestyle and not knowing much about maintaining a proper diet. I’ve learned a lot in the past few years from working at Whole Foods, especially since I spent seven months as my store’s In-Store Educator, where it was my job to train new hires and educate all of our Team Members on our products and philosophies.

Use Your (S)words

I wish I could carry a sword on my back when I’m just walking around. I mean, really, who’d mess with a guy who’s carrying a sword?

I’ve read conflicting things about the legality of it. Some sources say it’s not illegal since it’s not a concealed weapon, others say you need a permit, and others say it’s illegal no matter what. I don’t care, I just think it’s awesome.

I know carrying a sword on your back is a horrible way to carry it (most people’s arms aren’t long enough to unsheath a sword when it’s on their back, and due to my height I doubt I could do it) but it’s not like I’d be using it or anything. It’d be for show. Mostly.

I mean, women carry purses and have big dangly earrings and other accessories. I’d just have a sword. The beauty of it is, it goes with everything. Formal wear, business casual, even a day at the beach!

It’s all fine and dandy carrying a sword on your hip like a samurai, but the coolest guys carry them on their back. Ichigo Kurosaki, Toushirou Hitsugaya, Cloud Strife, Link, the Hero from Dragon Quest VIII, and me. If I had one, anyway.
