I played the old ones on the NES and recently picked up DQIV and V for DS. I’m becoming RPG crazy, I’m sort of burnt out on the usual xbox games.

The RPGs on the handhelds are fantastic and remind me a lot of the stuff I played when I was a kid

I think I might check it out. I’ve played through a few Dragon Warrior/Quest, most notably Dragon Warrior 7. God, I love Dragon Warrior 7. For all that is good and holy, play Dragon Warrior 7.

I hear DQ IX packs in the hours of gameplay. You’ll have to tell me how long it took you to beat it if/when you do.

I suppose its time I got a new DS game anyway. I may be cheap, but the last time I bought one was when I got Scribblenauts, Mario and Lugi: Bowser’s Inside Story and Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box in the same day something close to a year ago.

The only other DQ I’ve played is the GBC incarnation of 3. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get into this one but I’m definitely going for it. Everything from the music to the now-archaic-sounding sound effects feel very familiar to me, so much so that I find myself wanting to play 3 again.
