This Controller? Classic.

There’s been a little bit of buzz (more like a dull hum, actually) on the internet lately about Nintendo’s update to the Classic Controller, the Classic Controller Pro. You may be wondering “Wow, what did the Classic Controller Pro do to lose its amateur status?” Well, I’m here to give you the details.

We’ve been jumping back into Virtual Console games a bit lately, and once I finally found out that the white one was out in America I decided that it was a good time to check it out, especially after all the great things I’d been hearing about it from people who had purchased it in the bundle with Monster Hunter 3 Tri.

Work Your Photo Dojo Mojo

Okay, so yesterday I downloaded the best game ever to my DSi. Photo Dojo is the raddest thing to ever rad its way out of radtown. Photo Dojo is the simplest of beat-em-ups, but what makes it so great is you play as yourself!

Using the DSi’s camera, you’ll take photos of yourself or your friends in various battle poses, record some sounds, and then tear through the game. You design your fireball attack, your ultimate move, your taunt and victory pose, and record all kinds of cool phrases just like in a fighting game.

My fireball attack is the Domo Hadoken (as you can see in the picture), and my super move is the Ultimate Booyah.

Read that sentence a few times. I shoot a giant Domo face across the screen! THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.

Photo Dojo is available on the DSi shop right now for free, and will go up to 200 DSi points soon, which is still a fantastic bargain. Seriously, go download this right now.

It Don’t Matter if it’s Black or White

All kinds of new information on Pokémon Black and White was leaked today! Scans from a leaked copy of CoroCoro magazine revealed the three starters, as well as designs for the new Trainers. I know I’ve been talking a lot about Pokémon lately (not just here, but on the Twitter, Facebook and forums. Sorry!), but in the interest of being current I wanted to talk about it again today.

(Also, Serebii webmaster guy. Disabling right-clicking on your page stopped being cool in like 1997. I stole your pictures anyway out of spite. Deal with it.)

Impromptu Contest!

I took this picture walking home from work today, because it reminded me of something from a video game. I thought we’d have a little contest! First person to post in the comments what game it reminded me of will win a Virtual Console game of their choice. For a hint, mouse over the image.

Good luck!

EDIT: Megafan wins in record time! The answer was Paperboy for the NES. The houses that didn’t have newspaper subscriptions looked a lot like the house I walk by every day.

Megafan, email me letting me know what Virtual Console game you’d like gifted to you, along with your Wii number. I’ll get it to you on Friday!

This is Your Homework Assignment!

June 27th, the game we never thought would happen is being gifted to us. Treasure, makers of such rad-tastic games as Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy, and Ikaruga give us the sequel to Japanese Nintendo 64 cult classic Sin & Punishment, entitled Sin & Punishment: Star Successor for the Wii.

Apparently, the game was given the greenlight after strong Virtual Console sales, which is surprising considering the game was never released outside of Japan until the Virtual Console release. The game is a face-melting shooter chock full of screen-filling bosses, ludicrous amounts of bullets, and a dizzying amount of explosions. You know, everything that makes Treasure games fantastic. Lead character Saki was also added as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros Brawl, and he was awesome. He was all flipping around with his laser gun that is ALSO A LASER SWORD. There is a lot of awesome, rad, totally bodacious things in this game! That means the sequel will be EVEN BETTER!

BUT. Nintendo is releasing this game June 27th, ONE DAY after Metroid: Other M, one of the few other “hardcore” Wii releases. I’m terrified that as a result, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor’s sales are going to suffer. This is where I use my influence over about a dozen people on the internet to try to do some good.

Your assignment is to purchase Sin & Punishment for Virtual Console, play it in its entirety, fall in love with it and purchase the sequel when it’s released. You have over a month! The game retails for 1200 Wii Points, which is $12 in American Real Dollars. You have plenty of time to mow lawns, pull up couch cushions, and visit old relatives to get the money for both games. You’ll thank me, and I’ll thank you for making sure that Treasure gets the credit it deserves for making such mind-blowingly fantastic games.

PKTV! Episode 1!

Our first video podcast! I apologize, the audio gets REALLY out of sync because our computer sucks… but it’s still entertaining. Kinda. Since we couldn’t record an audio podcast, I thought it’d be neat to do a video, but apparently it’s worse than the audio trouble we had. Oh wells. It’s more like a podcast with some unrelated pictures now. I guess that’s ok.

Suck It, Hollywood

This is the best 3 minutes of live action Street Fighter you’ll ever see.

I’m not going to make a habit of passing off cool things I find as blog posts, but this was really awesome. I mean, that IS Ken. Like, if Ken stepped out of the game into real life, he’d look just like that.

This Game Makes Me Hate You!

Dokapon Kingdom is going to make you hate whoever you play it with.

I’m serious.

Dokapon Kingdom can be pretty much summed up as Mario Party crossed with an RPG. You move around a board by using spinners to determine how far you go, you level up, fight monsters, and buy equipment.

You also screw over your friends whenever the opportunity presents itself. It presents itself often.

I’ve Got Some ‘Splainin to Do

So I feel like I owe you guys a bit of an explanation.

The blog has sucked lately. I haven’t really written anything interesting outside of the California game bill article in a while. Honestly, the last REAL article I wrote before that was the Pokémon article on April 12, and that was almost a month ago.

Sure, I was working on setting up the forums and things like that, but to be honest when it came time to sit down and write, I had NOTHING. I couldn’t think of anything to write about, so I’d just write about Rescue Rangers or F-Zero music or something like that. Those posts are fine, because this is still a personal gaming blog. However, having so many of those posts at once was, at least for me, inexcusable. But, I am my own worst critic.

(Yes I started a sentence with the word “but” and I know it’s wrong but I write how I talk so I’m leaving it.)
