It’s official. The console wars are over. Everyone can pack up and go home. Microsoft wins.

Why is that, you ask?

Simple: THEY HAVE OLD NICKELODEON SHOWS ON THEIR VIDEO MARKETPLACE.

I have been DYING for DVD releases of the great Nickelodeon shows I grew up with, but they’ve never been bestowed upon me by the TV on DVD gods. Now, for the first time since L.A. Gear sneakers were cool, we can enjoy these glorious, wonderful shows again, thanks to Microsoft. You know, everyone has been calling them a cold, greedy corporation for years, but this… this is like dad just gave us a hug after coming back from a work trip with a huge bag of presents.

You can now download episodes of Rocko’s Modern Life, Angry Beavers, Doug, Ren & Stimpy, Aah! Real Monsters, Rugrats, and my personal favorite, Salute Your Shorts. I guess Rugrats: All Grown Up is on there too, but no one cares.

I turn 26 years old tomorrow and I have horrible old man syndrome. I get angry when I see Lunchables that aren’t just crackers and lunchmeat. I once heard a kid say “What’s a Sega Genesis?” and I just about had a coronary. These reminders of my childhood, these throwbacks to a simpler time, bring soothing joy to my aging, spiteful heart.

I have the feeling this is Nickelodeon’s way to “test market” these shows and see if a DVD release would be profitable, since the two shows they DID put on DVD, The Adventures of Pete & Pete and Clarissa Explains it All, aren’t on there. So go download every episode so we can have more. Thanks.

That is pretty sweet, but I would prefer them in physical media… because, you know, things that sit on shelves are pretty.

Also, though I am but a mere 21, my AOMS (Angry Old Man Syndrome) is raging as well.

I’m 14 and I have AOMS. Especially since people asked “Are Ho-Oh and Lugia the only new pokemon?”
And a youtube review which may cause infuriating anger to anyone who crosses your path.
I’ll post it.

Angry comment warning.

I have to agree with Hexen on this one. I’d rather have them in physical media. ;)

So would I, but like I said, this could be a test. We have to make sure they sell well! We’re Nintendo fans, we have no problem buying the same thing over and over.

While that is more then likely true, I always have trouble paying for shows that I can just download when I don’t get anything physical out of the deal. Perhaps me not paying to download will cause them not to release it on DVD, but on the flip side, if paying to download it caused them to put it on DVD, I would have to buy it twice.
