It’s time for Multiplayer Game Night #2! Tonight’s theme is “Nintendo FreeDS” – bring whatever DS games you like into the chat, find some partners, and just hang out and chat.

We’re all going to be hanging out in the PK Bloggin’! IRC Channel. If you don’t have an IRC program, I’d recommend getting mIRC. It’s pretty simple to use and free. Our channel is on the Darkmyst server, and the channel is #pkbloggin. If you’ve never used IRC before, here is a pretty handy list of the basic commands to get you started.

It officially starts at 8pm EST/5pm PST and goes until whenever. See you there!

So the inaugural PAX East has come and gone. They say PAX is an experience unlike any other, and it certainly was. Here’s my rundown of our weekend.

It’s our PAX Preview Podcast! I’m incredibly excited. It’s a celebration of gaming and gaming culture, and it’s in our hometown. It’s going to be fantastic.

Short and sweet today, since we have a lot to do to get ready (I finally just got my 8th badge in Heart Gold so I can trade my team over and challenge people at PAX). If you want to keep up with our adventures this weekend, you can follow me and Christina on Twitter.

So Nintendo announced a new handheld today. The world recoiled with shock!

Not really. Nintendo is always releasing a new handheld. Honestly though, they’re really good at making handhelds, so it’s okay.

If you’ve been paying attention to any of the gaming news blogs today, you know that Nintendo announced via their Japanese web site that there’s a new handheld on the way, tentatively titled the Nintendo 3DS. The console is going to use its two screens to create a 3D effect without the use of glasses. It’s going to be an all new line of handhelds, similar to how the Game Boy Advance was the successor to the original Game Boy.

Big surprise revealed! We have merchandise now!

If you notice on the left sidebar, there’s a new Merchandise page! We currently have three t-shirts for sale, all designed by the lovely and talented Christina! Two are inspired by the hit game Mass Effect, the third is based on my Some Kinda Knucklehead GameStop story. We’re really excited about them! Each shirt also comes with a 1″ button, perfect for any bag or purse!

They’re currently in pre-order status, because we need to know what sizes to order for our initial shipment before we send them off to the printers. More details are on the Merch page.

We hope you enjoy them! Spread the word!

So when we hooked the Wii up to our new TV, we get this weird, yellowish noise in the form of horizontal lines appearing across the screen. It’s not constant; sometimes it’s a few lines, sometimes it takes up the whole screen. It’s similar to a TV with bad reception. We’ve tried two component cables (set to 480i and 480p), both component inputs on the TV, and both our Wiis… no matter what, we can’t get a picture without the noise.

Does anyone have ANY idea what could be causing it? The Wii is unplayable as it is.

PK Podcast! is back, for better or for worse! Not a lot happened this week, so we took it as an opportunity to catch up on a few things we’d passed over, and to go a little more in-depth on a few other topics.

The big thing is we’ll be at PAX East next weekend, and if you can’t go but still want to be kept in the loop, you can follow Christina and myself on Twitter, because we’ll be Tweeting about all the cool things going on. I’ll mostly be busy running around challenging everyone with a DS to a Pokémon battle, but you know. I always have a lot to say.

Episode 8 of the podcast will go up next Thursday, March 25, because we’ll be at PAX that Friday. We’ll talk a bit about what will be at PAX and the panels and events we’ll be attending. It’s gonna be awesome!

I want to talk about Final Fantasy XIII for a bit.

If you’ve been following my thoughts on the game leading up to its release, you’ll remember I’ve been kinda up and down on the subject, my interest fluctuating much like the wave pools at a water park. At first I wasn’t even sure I’d pick it up on release day, but a few days before my cynicism got hit by a Limit Break of excitement and I decided I’d get it day one. Come on, it’s Final Fantasy!

Or is it?

It’s official. The console wars are over. Everyone can pack up and go home. Microsoft wins.

Why is that, you ask?

Simple: THEY HAVE OLD NICKELODEON SHOWS ON THEIR VIDEO MARKETPLACE.

I’d like to take a moment to talk about the PlayStation Move, and how it’s a complete and total ripoff of the Wii. I’d also like to take this chance to say that if you think the Move is innovative and refreshing, you’re a freaking idiot and should probably stop breathing.

I’m not going to go into crazy specifics about how Move works, because there are plenty of other sources for information out there. I’m just going to present kneejerk reactions and call it like I see it, but Sony is pulling some BULL SHIZNIT this generation and I can’t believe that people are praising them for their lazy business practices.

Before I really get into the Move itself, I want to say that the PlayStation 3 is nothing special. Up until recently, I had every intention of getting one eventually, because there’s a handful of games I’d really like to play (LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain, 3D Dot Heroes, Ratchet & Clank to name a few), but this whole Move thing has really pushed me over the edge. I can’t respect Sony as a company anymore, and for me to effectively boycott a console takes a LOT of pissing me off.
